Judges: Bethany Dick
Currently making
her home in Nashville, Bethany is a fiddler/singer/songwriter
from Bozeman, Montana. She grew up in a high remote area of the
Tobacco Root Mountains in southwest Montana, and at the age of
twelve moved to the Bozeman area with her dad, Jim, her mom,
Dayle, and her younger sister, Kate. Soon after moving to Bozeman,
she heard Alison Krauss' Two Highways, which sparked her interest
in bluegrass music and fiddling. She started playing the fiddle
when she was fourteen, and began competing in fiddle contests
around the nation at fifteen, consistently finishing in the top
five. Her family began playing in church together at about the
same time. She wrote her first song, "It's Enough",
in 1997, and now at the age of twenty-one is living out her dream
of writing and performing her songs.
"I fell in love with fiddling as soon as I took it up; I
couldn't put my fiddle down. When I started songwriting, I found
that I loved it as much as my fiddling. Acoustic music is so
soulful and beautiful, and I consider myself very blessed to
be able to play it."
