Judges: Amy Carwile
Following in her two older sisters' footsteps,
Amy, a native of Northern Idaho, began playing the fiddle at
the age of eight. Shortly thereafter, her younger brother joined
in the family fun and they performed as the Gilliam Family Fiddlers
at various community events. Most of their time was spent traveling
to fiddling contests throughout the western United States and
British Columbia.
Over the last eighteen years, Amy has competed at hundreds
of fiddle contests. Her accomplishments include Northwest Regional,
Washington State, Pend O'Reille International and Colorado Open
Championships, not to mention many others. As well as competing,
Amy has served as a judge at numerous contests.
Amy continues to preserve and pass along the art of Old-Time
Fiddling by providing private fiddle lessons to students of all
ages. She also coordinates an annual student recital and organizes
a youth fiddling group. Over the last eleven years she has dedicated
her time to instructing more than 250 students.
